Mission:
- Prepare our graduates to help meet today’s and tomorrow’s national security challenges by giving them the technical education they need for designing, building, operating, maintaining, and improving reliable, capable, effective and affordable complex systems of systems that meet the user’s needs when the user needs them.
- Perform research to improve existing and develop new systems engineering techniques and methods.
- Apply systems engineering techniques and methods to develop cost-effective, timely solutions to priority national security problems.
To carry out this mission, the NPS Department of Systems Engineering has 18 faculty members with primary appointments, ten with joint appointments, three research staff, and two administrative staff.
We offer masters degrees and will soon be offering the PhD in Systems Engineering. We have about 60 resident students and about 300 non-resident students. We partner closely with the Wayne E. Meyer Institute of Systems Engineering at NPS, especially for research programs.
