Webinar Topic Descriptions, Credit, and FM Competency Alignment

Analytic Decision Making for Financial Managers:  This webinar discusses the drivers of the decision to move beyond the basic linear bivariate model and why the choice of model is important. It also reviews the problems common to all data analytic techniques and why they matter and introduces time series data which is prevalent and presents challenges for financial management stemming from its non-randomness. 1 credit hour earned may be applied toward initial DFMCP certification or continuing education training. FM Competency Alignment: Decision Support, Proficiency Level: 5, Certification Level: 3.

Multi-criteria Decision Making:  This webinar focuses on how to conduct financial, economic, and/or accounting analysis when the organization faces multiple competing objectives. To allow decision makers to make better decisions in these circumstances, we emphasize problem formulation and appropriate analysis techniques as well as their interpretation to ensure that decision makers can better utilize resources and improve mission effectiveness. 1 credit hour earned may be applied toward initial DFMCP certification or continuing education training. FM Competency Alignment: Decision Support, Proficiency Level: 5, Certification Level: 3.

Economic Environment:  This webinar presents an abstract model for an economy and the tradeoffs made to allocate resources to defense, a framework for making tradeoffs to support the economic and efficient use of resources, and tools and concepts of marginal analysis that allow financial managers to make better tradeoffs among competing alternative uses of funds. 1 credit hour earned may be applied toward initial DFMCP certification or continuing education training. FM Competency Alignment:  Advanced Financial Management, Proficiency Level: 5, Certification Level: 3.

Decision Support for Leaders:  This webinar builds a foundation in model development and expands on it by defining pre-decision analysis (cost estimating tools and effectiveness analysis) and post-decision analysis (cost accounting and performance management), providing elements and examples of each. 1 credit hour earned may be applied toward initial DFMCP certification or continuing education training. FM Competency Alignment: Decision Support, Proficiency Level: 5, Certification Level: 3.

Data Analytics:  This webinar will introduce attendees to how data analytics support and improve financial and economic decision-making and accounting analysis. Additionally, it will explain the role of data analytics in developing and evaluating decision alternatives, and formulating solutions to improve mission effectiveness. 1 credit hour earned may be applied toward initial DFMCP certification or continuing education training. FM Competency Alignment: Decision Support, Proficiency Level: 5, Certification Level: 3.

Performance Management:  This webinar provides a foundation for performance management by understanding the link between strategic guidance and goals and objectives at the unit or sub-organization level. It uses unit or sub-organizational goals and objectives to establish indicators of performance and effectiveness through the development of performance hierarchies. 1 credit hour earned may be applied toward initial DFMCP certification or continuing education training. FM Competency Alignment: Accounting Analysis, Proficiency Level: 5, Certification Level: 3.
