Assistant or Associate Professor AD-1701-03/05/07 Decision Analysis, Operations Research, Information Sciences or Related Field

The Defense Resources Management Institute (DRMI) is accepting applications for faculty positions in Decision Analysis, Operations Research, Information Sciences or related field. The DRMI offers graduate-level, team-taught, interdisciplinary executive management programs in defense resources management and analytical decision making for military and civilian officials from all services and Department of Defense (DoD) components of the United States, and participants from over 170 countries. 

DRMI faculty are active teachers and scholars. Successful candidates will demonstrate valuable teaching experience and excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as a Ph.D. in decision analysis, operations research, information science or related discipline by the date of the appointment. We expect evidence of scholarly research, and candidates should demonstrate a willingness to pursue research relevant to the DoD. Work experience related to the DoD or other government agencies is strongly preferred. Fluency in a foreign language, particularly Arabic, French, Russian, or Spanish, is valuable but not required. 

DRMI faculty must teach in an integrated, team-teaching environment in resources management executive education short courses. The ability to teach multicriteria decision making and / or risk and basic data analysis is highly desirable. DRMI faculty must be willing to travel both internationally and domestically. The DRMI does not follow a standard academic calendar and candidates must live in the Monterey, California area and be available to teach year-round. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

Minimum qualifications:

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline, including but not limited to operations research, decision analysis, or a related field

  • Evidence of teaching ability to an executive- or professional-level audience

  • Must currently hold or be eligible for a Secret clearance

  • Must be a U.S. citizen

The Defense Resources Management Institute (DRMI) is accepting applications for faculty positions in economics to join an exciting mission teaching security cooperation to U.S. and partner nation students. Economics contributes extensively to security cooperation by supporting the selection and life-cycle management of portfolios of activities that promote U.S. security objectives. We focus on the connections among national security goals, defense strategies, program options and capabilities, and budgetary resource needs, and our students apply economics tools and concepts to improve efficient and effective use of scarce defense resources. Economists teach year-round in residence and abroad in executive education courses. 

The DRMI offers graduate-level, team-taught, interdisciplinary executive management programs in defense resources management and analytical decision making for military and civilian officials from all services and DoD components of the United States, and participants from over 170 countries.

Candidates should have an established academic record or career history demonstrating expertise in defense economics, public-sector resourcing, national security, or relevant micro- or macro-economics.
