Ethics Training
All persons engaged in the conduct, review, and approval of human subject research is required to complete ethics training. NPS faculty, staff, students, and outside collaborators who will be conducting human subjects’ research (intervention and/or interaction) must complete the DoN CITI human subject research ethics courses.
A person is engaged in research if they will interact /intervene with human subjects and/or will have access to identifiable data. A copy of the training completion report is required to be submitted with the IRB application package.
The training is offered online through CITI (www.citiprogram.org) and typically takes four hours to complete. Training is valid for three years.
