The Naval Postgraduate School's (NPS) centralized Information Technology and Communications Services (ITACS) department is celebrating the fruits of its partnerships - with faculty, staff and students, local government, the state's network system, industry colleagues, other universities and Department of Defense - recently completing the fifth year of the 2003 IT Strategic Plan, The Information Revolution: Planning for Institutional Change.

Over the past year the ITACS department has spent time meeting with industry partners, visiting peer universities and conducting numerous interviews as research to determine: the technological needs; infrastructure design and capabilities; information technology needed to support changes to educational pedagogies; information management and delivery as well as analyzing the universities internal administrative systems. NPS is committed to providing you with a high performance network experience while maintaining a safe and secure network environment. Network Access Control (NAC) ensures that systems connecting to the NPS network meet minimum standards. All computers accessing the NPS network must authenticate through this system before they can access the network. All Windows and Macintosh computers must install the SafeConnect Policy Key before accessing network resources.

NPS Self-Service Password manager NPS Self-Service Password Manager

NPS instituted a self-service password management solution that allows students, staff, and faculty members to reset, unlock, or change their password. This product uses the question-and-answer security system for authentication. It provides users with a cost-efficient, safe, and secure method to reset forgotten passwords including unlocking accounts.

To access this site type or select https://npspassword.nps.edu in your web browser. Enroll by creating your password profile. Enrollment is a one-time process and takes only a few minutes. Manage forgotten or locked accounts by simply supplying the answers from your password profile.




ITACS Launches Video Portal


ITACS team members worked collaboratively to launch NPS Video Portal, featuring on demand and streaming videos.  

Videos on the portal can be accessed from on or off-campus, making it easier for students to catch up on the latest happenings at NPS or to watch a lecture they missed.  The site also features monthly episodes of Inside NPS, a 30-minute show that appears regularly on the Pentagon Channel. read more
