  • Personnel assigned to AFIT will promptly report all mishaps they are involved in or witness, that involve AFIT personnel, to their immediate supervisor.  This for both on and off-duty.
  • Supervisors will report the mishap via AF Form 978 to the AFIT Safety Officer.
  • Reference: NPS Student Muster Page
  • Mustering is required on all duty days with the exception of federal holidays and designated non-muster days.
  • Mustering signals that you are present for duty between the duty hours of 0800 to 1600.
  • On muster day, members may not leave the local area without being on leave, pass, or TDY.
  • If you are in the local area on a mustering day, you must be able to report within 90 minutes.
  • Three missed musters will result in the member being placed on the NPS Dean of Students additional duty roster (e.g. urinalysis observer, etc.).  Additional misses will result in progressive discipline.
  • First, AFIT/CI will need to approve your stay beyond seven days post-graduation.  Reach out to your program officer.
    • This is because of the finite amount of Student Man-Years allotted to AFIT to graduate students under its purview and any extended stay will still count towards that metric, even if you are not actively enrolled in classes.
  • Second, student must fill out and submit a Dean of Students request form.  This includes FAOs departing on IRT while still attached to NPS.
  • Obviously, be sure to include your career functional in your plan.
  • Students will remain attached to AFELM NPS, continue to muster, and be available for casual duties.
  • Must be cleared through me first.
  • Route through MS Teams tab but include approval of affected professors and 5Ws, to include:
    • Relevant to your thesis/research?
    • Who's funding it?
    • DTS LOA and Routing List?
  • Inputs are due two weeks prior to graduation.  AFIT/CI should be reaching out to you.
  • (FAOs) Inputs are expected two weeks prior to departing for In-Region Training.
    • Get an LOE (AF Form 77) from your IRT supervisor.
