Summary The 2-week resident course taught at the Naval Postgraduate School focuses on Energy Security Policy and Practice in the Oil and Gas sectors. The course begins with an overview of the issues and factors which create energy security including the political aspects of national security, identification and exploitation of strategic natural resources, storage, supply, the development and protection of critical energy infrastructure, and economic impacts. After examining the micro (national) focus of a given country (dependent on student demographic), the course moves in the macro (global) economic context of the oil and gas industry including planning, policy, environmental impact issues, renewables, and emerging technologies. This course includes 2 full-day site visits which reinforce the learning objectives.
