Summary Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) are proliferating throughout the armed forces, and the value of a ship-based UAS supporting a wide variety of combat operations is being validated on a daily basis. The Navy's MQ-8B Fire Scout is designed to provide reconnaissance, situational awareness, and precision targeting support for ground, air, and sea forces. Other ship-based UAS currently/soon to be in use include the ScanEagle (non-POR) and the RQ-21 Integrator/STUAS (USMC shipboard deployments), and the MQ-8C. Although several shipboard MQ-8B and ScanEagle deployments have already been completed, an effective set of tactics, techniques, and procedures (TIPs) is still incomplete. This TACMEMO shall provide the tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) to support detailed objectives that address current downfalls and provide an evaluation plan with associated MOEs/MOPs to guide post-development validation.
