Summary In this work, we propose to investigate the feasibility of ⿿teaching⿝ commercial or military radars to function as communications systems to one or multiple data link receivers. In other words, we strive to configure a legacy radar to be a dual function RF system. Such activities are very active research areas that we study under the Cognitive Sensing, Radio, and Radar Lab (CSR2), which is directed by Prof. Ric Romero here at NPS. Due to our expertise in this field, we are confident that we can show that radar systems can communicate to other receivers (radios and radars) via our previous studies, articles, and hardware experiments. In other words, it is possible to embed data message into a radar waveform.
