Summary NAWCAD supports research, development, test, evaluation, engineering and fleet support of Navy and Marine Corps air vehicle systems and trainers. NAWCAD is one of two product centers within the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) and works with industry to deliver high quality, affordable products and support to the operating forces. Facilities, test ranges, subordinate commands and personnel are widely distributed. The Massive Multiplayer Online War Game Leveraging the Internet (MMOWGLI) is a Web-based idea-exploration game that encourages innovative thinking about some of the world's most wicked problems. MMOWGLI is designed to support large number of distributed global players working together on idea generation and action planning, with an eye towards surfacing innovative outlier strategies. With numerous known and emerging long-term challenges facing a major command whose missions and roles are critical to Navy effectiveness, NAWCAD needs to explore a wide variety of strategic opportunities and challenges in order to identify effective paths forward. Broad collaboration using MMOWGLI to conduct brainstorming of new ideas and generate action-plan alternatives is expected to be essential for charting the way ahead for this major Navy initiative. This project is being pursued in partnership and with partial matching support by the Office of Naval Research (ONR).
