Back Nanomaterials Architectures for Ballistic Armor Applications

Summary Generate WS2/C composite structures targeting x2 improvements in material strength-weight ratios for armor systems. We plan to engineer a heterogeneous composite able to dilute shocks at random resonant frequencies. We expect to be able to dissipate lingering shock fronts or pressure waves by mechanisms related to the specific particulate structures that can be attain with WS2 and carbon nanomaterials, plus effects of a mixed granularity (size/nature of particulates and microstructural distribution).
