Summary This combination of NPS's International Maritime Border Security and Land Border Security & Terrorism training program is targeted to give coalition military officers, law enforcement, and civilian leadership a foundational knowledge of the international maritime security environment, an understanding of tools and technology for cross-organization and agency coordination to provide land-based and maritime security, and the ability to build the foundation for institutional integrity and the technical systems for both land-based and maritime border security operations.
Securing country borders is a complex task that involves many different government agencies and professional skill-sets. While there is no common definition for border security and there are several competing terms used to define the range of border activities, this short-course is designed to provide a common conceptual understanding. It will identify three core foundational concepts that are critical to maritime border security. Participants will be familiarized with best practice operational concepts as real world cases are addressed throughout the program.
This program is tailored towards 05/06 level military officers (and their civilian police and equivalents) who are involved in participating, preparing or implementing border security or anticipate involvement in these activities. The purpose of this program is to train and prepare the participants for complex land-based and/or Maritime Border Security operations by enhancing their knowledge and ability to increase overall mission efficiency, effectiveness, and success.
