Summary The Hostile Forces Integrated Targeting System (HITS) is utilized to geolocate threat emitters by forward deployed forces. While able to geolocate over a range of frequencies, the geolocation capability degrades as the frequency decreases. While the Navy continues to move forward in prosecuting newer technologies, most of which use frequencies at or above the VHF region, many adversaries continue to use older technologies that utilize the HF range and below. This project aims to update the models used for HF propagation to provide enhanced geolocation capability to HITS that can be utilized over a variety of HITS-capable platforms.
