Back Modeling and Simulation of Trident II D5 Nose Fairing

Summary Develop analysis and testing methodology for nose fairing life extension program. Analytical model of the laminated composite of the Trident D5 nose fairing will be developed and applied to test coupon furnished by the Strategic Systems Program Office (SSPO). A finite element model of the nose fairing will be simulated based on the geometry supplied by SSPO using the material modeling developed in-house. Test plan and testing of coupons will be developed for the loads in consultation with SSPO. Testing of the coupons for the operational loads will be performed and analyzed. The results will be assessed and it relevance to the durability and strength of the nose fairings.
