Summary The Joint Foreign Area Phase II Program is an NPS center, run out of the School of International Graduate Studies. The JFSSPP is a two-part program. The first part is a resident education program that hosts up to six (6) two-week courses per year at NPS and in a specific command region that is the focus of that particular course. These courses provide regional, language and policy training for senior level Foreign Area Officers (FAOs). The second part of the JFSSPP is the hosting of a collaboration and continuing education portal called FAOweb. FAOweb is an activity-based networking and continuing education website that was designed by NPS in collaboration with the Defense Language Institute (DLI) and the Defense Language Office (DLO). This portal will allow FAOs from all branches of service to communicate and collaborate with each other on relevant issues and on improving their individual skill sets. The funding provided in this MIPR supports the continuing of FAO Web until the balance of the budget is MIPR'd later this year. The funding will be used to pay for the labor of Jim Howard and Brian Boulware, who maintain FAOWeb for NPS.
