Summary | Clandestine tunnels pose a threat under our Southern and Northern borders for counter-smuggling operations and to DoD Force Protection. In order to mitigate this threat and stop the transport of associated contraband (i e., drugs, currency, guns, explosives, Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and Weapons of Mass Effect (WME)) through tunnels, technologies and methods must be developed for the discovery and closure of new and existing subsurface voids. The purpose of this IAA is to provide ERDC with applied modeling and visualization research on physics based tunnel discovery technologies and to assist USACE ERDC GSL with development and implementation of the technologies that deny the use of the subterranean passages including tactical range infrasound for extended situational awareness. |
