Back Optimization of Sensor Operation for Search, Surveillance, and Rapid Accurate Decision Making in Maritime, Littoral, and Urban Environments

Summary NPS proposes to continue our development of models and algorithms to support search and interdiction in naval applications. As before, the research will follow two thrusts.
The first and major thrust focuses on ASW tactics and operations, and comprises three paths. The first path addresses aerial ASW operations and tactics, and comprises a list of topics relevant to current practices of this mode of operations. In the second path we describe our continued effort in analyzing the effectiveness of a long-range torpedo. In the third path we will continue working on the undersea realm and will focus on the deployment and operation of multistatic sonar sensors.
The second thrust pertains to the counter-drug project that has been the focus of this work for the last several years. Specifically, we will support efforts to improve maritime search and interdiction missions by enhancing optimization and further exploring game-theoretic issues.
