Fiscal Year 2010
Division Research & Sponsored Programs
Department Cebrowski Institute
Investigator(s) Gibson, John H.
Sponsor Marine Corps Systems Command (Marine Corps)
Summary Establish a Military Wireless Communications mobile/portable laboratory capability to facilitate in-house and in-situ experimentation with current and emerging wireless communications and handheld computational devices to advance research into the adaptation, integration, or exploitation of state-of-the-art commercial technologies in order to leverage their inherent capabilities for forward-deployed, communications and computationally disadvantaged, predominately-dismounted force elements. The laboratory capabilities established by this proposal are intended to position NPS as a cross-discipline center for cross-program element and program group collaboration and innovation. The laboratory, in conjunction with the research sponsor, will serve as a spring-board for initiating further experimentation and innovation with respect to leveraging commercially available technology, thereby positively influencing the adoption of these technologies by the U. S. Marine Corps, as well as other services.
