Summary Our aim is to replace and extend the Automated Pass and Recovery Tracking System (APARTS) to aid Landing Signal Officers (LSOs). Our working prototype, which we have named GROOVE, will provide the fleet with a richer and more meaningful database of landing data to improve pilot and LSO training and will enhance decision making at the squadron, air-wing, type wing, and Naval Aviation Enterprise levels. By exploiting our multidisciplinary expertise in computer science, database development, human factors engineering, and LSO operations, we will design and develop GROOVE to be an effective, easy-to-use tool and will demonstrate its ability to replace APARTS while introducing new capabilities.
