Summary This follow-on research project will be in support of the CHSC (specifically the County Office of Emergency Services (OES) and will enhance the capabilities and operations of the newly created COMMUNICATIONS TASK FORCE). The project will be sponsored and managed by DHS S&T, and will leverage the previous work of an NPS research group (the Hastily Formed Networks Center) as well as to leverage the success of the IPC3 project but with an eye toward the myriad lessons learned from two recent disaster events - the North Pass Fire, a wildland fire in Northern California (IPC3 personnel and equipment were deployed to this major fire in the summer of 2012) and Superstorm Sandy in November 2012. There were significant communications centric hard lessons learned by a multitude of early responder agencies at these events. Identification of a number of communications gaps in both of these events are things that this project strives to address.
