Summary The overall objective of this research is to demonstrate the existence of super dielectric materials (SDM) and to optimize the design to make clear that with proper development capacitive energy density higher than that found in the best supercapacitors can be achieved. Technology of this type can be used to deliver high power to many large weapon systems (e.g. lasers), as well as equip the individual war fighter with high power delivery systems at less cost of weight and size than is presently possible.
- Show by repeated charging/discharging cycles that SDM (super dielectric materials) truly exist.
- Optimize the design of SDM.
- Create first generation practical devices with remarkably high energy densities
- Develop a simple mathematical model of the SOM, and show how extrapolation of observation, within this model, suggests a means to create the highest energy density capacitors ever made.
- Make the best possible, 'optimized', test devices.
- File patents as appropriate.
- Find funding to test second generation devices (i.e. 5 micron thickness of dielectric layer) that will perform as advertised.
