Summary The goals of this work are varied, and include a continuation of the FY15 efforts to study the flow of energy in the acoustic field in shallow water and 3-D environments. One goal will be to improve our understanding of the significance of 3-D propagation effects and quantify their relative importance in areas of interest. Another goal will be to examine the information that is available from point measurements of the directional noise field, collected during FY15-16, and potential applications of this data for geoacoustic inversion. In addition, new studies with directional acoustic modems will investigate the plausibility of utilizing such systems for tracking of submerged units, such as divers, and associated data exfiltration in shallow water.
