Summary The CORE Lab will facilitate a, four day outreach and education event for the Joint Special Operations Command. Each class will have no more than 24 students.
The CORE Lab SNA for LE curriculum consists of a daily mixture of interactive briefs that introduce participants to SNA theory and application, vignettes on social media and SNA, lab exercises that apply a wide range of SNA techniques to data sets and readings. It will end with final exercise presented by the participants and will fuse theory and techniques.
The proposed schedule for the four-day training (Tuesday to Friday) is as follows:
- Day 1 (0900-1600) Theory and Methods of SNA
- Day 2 (0900-1600) Introduction to SNA software packages and project development
- Day 3 (0900-1600) Four Metric Family Instructions and SNA Software Lab Completion
- Day 4 (0900-1300) Presentation of Final Projects and Review
Sponsoring organizations will be responsible to provide the classroom for the training. The classroom will need to have a power cord, projector, speakers and screen/display device for the trainers. The students will be responsible to bring their own laptop and datasets (or desktops). The classroom should be equipped with adequate power so that the students are not running the laptops off batteries. The students will be required to install free software provided by the CORE Lab (ORA v2.3.6) and/or the GEPHI software package, depending on the needs of the students receiving training, onto the laptops and may need administrative rights to do so.
