- What OTALC forms work best in the battlefield and in what conditions and with what throughputs at what distances? The deliverable will be a matrix of laser types, throughput. weights, power, light spectrum, ability to use in day/night, and max distance that transmission can occur.
- What ways can we optimize battlefield communications to transmit large amounts of data? Can we group together various smaller WiFi networks at a node and then transmit great amounts of data between base/ship and this intermediate node
- Can OTALC be valuable as a ship to shore form of communication? This is an interesting question given that there may be large amounts of water vapor that can disrupt OTALC in the air near the shore and around ships. Is there better methods to do this such as transmitting from the very top of a ship, or straight up to another vehicle/UAV and then relayed to shore? What kind of conditions (vapor density vs. distance) can transmission occur?
