Summary This effort supports a project called "Persistics" at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) in collaboration with NASA Jet Propulsion Lab. The project is resourced by Mr. Ben Riley in the Office or the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Emerging Capabilities and Prototyping (OASD EC&P). JPL has developed software to manipulate commercial and national satellite imagery. The software generates 2D products and will later produce a 3D point cloud from multi-angle satellite imaging overpass in extremely rapid fashion. Additional software performs high-fidelity co- registration and change detection on images collected on different dates. This capability has been transferred to LLNL for their use in advancing automated target recognition using layered intelligence from very large data sets. The result is technology accelerated "Data to Decision" by the warfighter, via automated identification of very subtle targets and features. This project is classified. RAND is contributing additional classified information layers.
The effort provides government oversight and work to provide management and oversight, of the JPL, LLNL and RAND contributions, along with warfighter engagement and transition.
