Summary The proposed effort leverages the academic and research expertise, resources, and capabilities that reside at NPS. It makes available the experience and collection of best practices from related work that can be applied to the Expeditionary Energy Office's (E20) mission. Led by the core team of NPS faculty in this proposal, this effort taps into communities of interest for energy-related research and education. A host of systems, experienced faculty, and military operators, who are the catalysts of all efforts at NPS, are made available to the E20. Energy issues are shared by all Services and are therefore inherently joint and multidisciplinary. A great deal of realism and operational pragmatism may be gained from these military professionals, domain-specific system engineers, and policy experts. NPS offers a partnership that will support and manage an NPS comprehensive effort to help the E20 address the Marine Corps' short term energy issues and plans for achieving long term goals. To support the E20 mission NPS will examine areas from the Marine Corps Commandant's Energy Study Topics and the Initial Capabilities Document for USMC Expeditionary Energy, Water, and Waste. These two documents hold USMC energy priorities and are bolstered by the USMC Expeditionary Energy Strategy. The NPS team will develop a phased plan with the E20 to systematically explore the issues that these documents contain.
