Summary "Theater deterrence can unsettle the minds and disrupt the plans of the Chinese and Russian great power adversaries" ultimately theater deterrence practiced against other great powers is the new central concept the United States must embrace. - (Adm Stavridis, Proceedings July 2021, pg 25). The current naval force structure does not meet the needs of this new concept. This research project provides analytic results of the introduction of a small ship class, Lightly Manned Autonomous Combat Capability (LMACC) which is the product of a conceptual design resulting from an NRP project in FY19. Questions now need to be answered including how many, variations needed, employment in other warfare areas (MIW, MCM, EABO MLR support, and light logistics for undersea warfare. A DOTMLPF multi-criterion model will be employed as well as operations research methods to answer needs of phase 0 to phase 3 operations. Outcomes will be used to define the total construction costs, crew requirements (much smaller than other warships as it uses much of the hull and maintenance, and navigation autonomy of Sea Hunter), and CONOPS for such a warship.
