Summary NPS will help develop participants' skills to recognize and evaluate the risk assessments and trade-offs that must be made among competing alternatives at both the strategic and operational levels of security and defense organizations, and to clearly define and evaluate the relationships among national security objectives, strategies, program alternatives/capabilities, and budgetary resource requirements. Topics to be covered in the course include: analytical tools for managerial decision-making, techniques drawn from the disciplines of management, economics, and quantitative reasoning, with applications to decisions involving the allocation of scarce financial, logistic, and human resources.
