Summary The focus of this research is to examine the economic conditions that influence the creation, sustainment, and violence associated with IED networks. The expectation is that the research will provide a greater level of understanding of the economic environment within which IED network form and the costs associated sustaining these networks. This research will also expand the body of knowledge of the transaction costs associated with IED networks and the amplification of IED network violence production. The results of the research will be to provide input to DIME on the underlying economic conditions associated with IED networks and an understanding of economic factors that can be used to mitigate the proliferation of the networks.
