Summary | We propose the continued construction and development of a unique sensor based on atom interferometers. The sensor will function as a dual sensor, capable of measuring both rotation and acceleration with one device. The device will consist of two opposing atomic beams from two cold atom sources. The opposing atoms will enter a common atom interferometry region where they will acquire information about the platform motion (specifically, acceleration and rotation) and the information will be read out. Lasers and optics that are common to both the interferometry region and the read-out region will be used for good common noise rejection. Consideration, including a possible second version of the device, will be made towards size and weight. |
