Summary | Currently the Center for Army Analysis (CAA) uses the Joint Integrated Contingency Model (JICM) to calculate munitions requirements for the Army G3 munitions office. The methodology developed by CAA can be used in the short term to estimate a rounds-fired-in-anger (RFIA) for Excalibur shots. However, this methodology suffers from a major drawback that it does not consider the effects of the Excalibur shots taken, and thereby it is not feasible to evaluate the effect of Excalibur on the battle either quantitatively or qualitatively. One possible solution to this problem is to modify the current attrition model to properly account for the effects of precision-guided munitions. We propose to work on the Carleton damage function, Pk matrix, and area targets. We will seek both theoretical and numerical approaches. |
