Summary | This is a proposal for a three-year research effort. Main objective of the proposed research is to explore the use of both existing and, possibly, newly founded analytic solutions in order to model the rotational dynamics and kinematics of a spacecraft. Furthermore, possible critical applications of this non-traditional modeling approach will be sought and investigated, regarding the Guidance, Navigation and Control of spacecraft attitude. Both the case of single spacecraft motion and the case of relative motion between two or more spacecraft will be considered. The solid starting base for the proposed project consists of the preparatory unfunded research effort conducted by Dr. Romano during recent years on new exact solutions of rotational motion. The FY 11/12 portion of this research will be conducted by Prof. Marcello Romano during six months of his Sabbatical, awarded by the NPS provost, to be spent at the Technical University of Munich. |
