Summary We will study process improvement and allocation of testing effort to minimize cost of operational risk due to software in the context of Open Architecture. Relevant cost components include costs of possible future operational failures due to system faults as well as direct costs of the test and evaluation processes whose purpose is to reduce exposure to these types of risks.
The main objective of the study is to identify and detail process improvements that can enable better risk reduction at reduced test and evaluation costs. This will help reduce total system ownership cost.
A secondary objective is to reduce the time needed for test and evaluation. This will improve system agility.
