Summary | This a proposed continuation of the FY15 project with a focus on analysis of the 2015 TCI experiment data and field program support in 2016. The analysis will be focused on utilizing the 2015 experiment data to understand the relationship between tropical cyclone structure and intensity change and upper level outflow. The field program support contributions include further enhancements to a mission planning tool for the WB57, evaluation of the 2015 ensemble forecast system, and participation in the 2016 TCI experiment including providing ensemble-based extended-range track and intensity forecasts. Finally, a collaborative study of improved tropical cyclone initialization using the Navy COAMPS-TC model in conjunction with TCI observational data is outlined. |
