Summary This research will attempt to analyze the costs of maintenance in the U.S. Marine Corps' tactical transportation assets over a vehicle's lifespan. The goal is to determine what is the most cost efficient method of maintaining a fleet ready in an uncertain fiscal and tactical environment. To do this, we will compare the net present values of the costs associated with preventive maintenance and administrative storage programs currently used by the Marine Corps. These values would then be compared to that of the startup, implementation and execution of a conditions-based maintenance system for the Marine Corps vehicle fleet. The goal of this project is a recommendation of a maintenance program policy specific to tactical transportation assets. This research would pave the way for further manpower studies to determine the appropriate manning requirements for our recommended maintenance policy.
