Summary |
MCWL and NPS faculty and students will execute a plan of research to advance the EABO concept through a program of wargaming and campaign analysis. Objectives of these wargames will be to analyze U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Navy expeditionary capabilities, concepts for joint and coalition employment, and assess potential locations and logistics requirements for advanced expeditionary bases. MCWL-NPS wargaming workshops, NPS student wargames from the OA4604 Wargaming Applications course, and NPS student team mini-studies from the OA4602 Joint Campaign Analysis course will be utilized to inform this program of research. The first phase of this effort will be to conduct a Fall 2018 (FY19) EABO Concepts and Technologies Workshop to refine the EABO-related emerging concepts and technologies to be injected into the Winter NPS Joint Campaign Analysis class’ mini-study. This workshop will be conducted at either NPS or MCWL. The second phase will take those critical enabling concepts and/or technologies and introduce them as technical injects into the Winter NPS Joint Campaign Analysis class’ mini-study. NPS will also conduct the EABO Wargaming R&D workshop #1 at MCWL in Quantico to research and develop the foundations of the Spring OA4604 MCWL wargame. The third phase will be to introduce EABO concepts and technologies into the Spring OA4604 Wargaming Applications course. The fourth phase will have the Summer JCA course students will conduct a second look at EABO concepts and technologies from phases 1 and 2, along with additional technologies as designated by MCWL sponsor. NPS will also conduct a second MCWL workshop at Quantico. The fifth phase will be to conduct the second student-designed MCWL wargame in the Fall (FY20) OA4604 Wargaming Applications course. The sixth phase will be drafting the final report, creating and delivering results briefings, and identifying areas for future MCWL-NPS research. |
