Summary | The USMC Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle acquisition program was canceled by Congress. As a result, the USMC is considering upgrades to the existing Amphibious Assault Vehicle (AAV) until a new assault vehicle is procured. The AAV upgrades are expected to add weight to the vehicle, possibly increasing its sink rate and endangering the lives of Marines being transported in the vehicle. This research collects baseline data (on land) on the speed at which Marines are able to egress from an AAV. Data will be analyzed and provided to the AAV Program Manager's Office. |
