Back Women in the Navy: What Is the Correct Staffing Level to Maximize Retention?
Fiscal Year | 2014 |
Division | Research & Sponsored Programs |
Department | Naval Research Program |
Investigator(s) | Shatnawi, Dina |
Sponsor | NPS Naval Research Program (Navy) |
Summary |
To better understand the relationship between female representation and female retention in the Navy, the following questions will be addressed: - Does the relative proportion of females in a given occupation affect long-term retention of enlisted females in the Navy? - Is there a staffing level at which point a "critical mass" is achieved that positively impacts female retention? - What occupations are more likely to retain women? How can the Navy increase retention of women in other occupations? - Does this critical mass need to be present in a specific occupation as a whole or does it need to also be present at lower commands to achieve the same effect? |
