Summary | The Office of Naval Research has invested heavily in researching the physical oceanography and acoustics characteristics of all regions of the global ocean, from the poles to the equator. The ultimate goal is to fully understand and predict all of the mechanisms which impact acoustic propagation in the ocean, in all environments, at all frequencies, at all times. This work proposes to compare and contrast acoustic propagation characteristics under the ice canopy in the Arctic, in energetic, constrained estuarine environments in the mid-latitudes and in the vicinity of large internal solitary waves in the tropics. |
