Summary |
The purpose of this work is to extend and improve the measurement of chemical, biological, radiation, and nuclear (CBRN) warfare effects on military operations. Multiple voids exist in the current simulation representation of these types of operations, chief among these is the representation of situational awareness (SA). Given the nature of the current and future force, the representation of situational awareness in simulation is essential in supporting analysis of military operations. Intelligent agent based models provide an alternative to traditional sequential task networks. These models capture the dynamic interactions that occur in the real world, often due to decisions by individuals. Individual agents make choices based on user defined rule sets. Each agent's knowledge is updated throughout the scenario, allowing the agent to make decisions based on its own situational awareness. The use of these models to measure the effects of CBRN warfare on military operations allows the representation of situational awareness and its impact on operations to be captured. With the potential for use of CBRN on the modem battlefield or in CONUS increasing each year, accurate representation of situational awareness in CBR is critical to inform operators and decision makers on potential course of action alternatives. This work will support the execution of ongoing analysis for the CBR SA program using the Pythagoras model. This effort will develop tools to allow the use of Pythagoras in a high performance computing environment with large designs of experiments in a timely fashion. This directly impacts the deliverables for the CBR SA project, providing the client a valuable tool for use with current and future analysis. |
