Summary | This study will use a case analysis approach to take advantage of learning opportunities presented by national events related to diversity and inclusion that occurred approximately between March 2020 and March 2021. Using critical events during this period, researchers will engage Sailors in like- and mixed-focus group interviews and an integrated design-thinking participatory research session to 1) document perceptions of inclusion and exclusion and identify key themes within and across groups and 2) identify objectives and strategies to train and educate Navy leaders and supervisors to better prepare them to lead and retain diverse teams. In particular, the study will identify strategies to help leaders address negative experiences and perceptions and engage Sailors when divisive events arise. |
