This is a Train-the-Trainer (ToT) iteration of a subject specific program. Through a three-phase ToT approach, the emphasis will be placed on building sustainable training skills of the participants in POC as it relates to UN PKO/PSO.
This 5-day course is designed to provide a common conceptual understanding of Protection of Civilians (POC) in the context of UN peacekeeping and the range of protection actors who work alongside peacekeeping operations. The course aims to identify a range of legal rules, authorities and obligations that govern the actions of peacekeepers with regards to POC. The course will also cover the rights and obligations of peacekeepers (particularly with regards to the use force as it pertains to POC).
