The International Defense Acquisition Resource Management (IDARM) Program at the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) in Monterey, California educates authorized allied military officers and civilian equivalents. IDARM provides graduate level executive and continuing education programs that support intellectual innovation and growth throughout the careers of the total force. IDARM program offerings provide participants with the tools, techniques, and skills to foster improvements in defense acquisition decision-making within their armed forces and defense institutions. IDARM will conduct a one week “Defense Acquisition Planning” course during 18-22 March, 2018 for the Jordanian Armed Forces. The course will provide participants with an examination of the components and characteristics of effective acquisition planning. Emphasis will be placed on the role of capabilities based planning in the defense acquisition decision making process, and cost, budget and funding considerations are addressed. Factors for effective risk management and decision making in complex situations will be considered. Participants will complete integrated group exercises designed to provide the opportunity for practical application of the key concepts and planning methods discussed throughout the week. Improvement of defense acquisition management systems in the participant nation will enhance the U.S. Government’s security sector objectives at the national and regional level. Additionally, this course will help build the intellectual capital of the Naval Postgraduate School faculty confirmed to support this effort. |
