Summary |
In discussion with the NETC xAPI team, NPS has been assigned the following sub-topics. 1. To explore the potential to use the xAPI to develop content for delivery on the Navy's eLearning (NeL) Learning Management System (LMS). This will include the identification of standards for developers. 2. To explore the potential to use the HTML5 to develop content for delivery on the Navy's eLearning (NeL) Learning Management System (LMS). This will include the identification of standards for developers. 3. Research the integration of a Learning Records Store (LRS) and LMS to identify the proper standards to document training. 4. Identify when user experience data to be synced with LMS is pushed back to LMS. 5. 1-4 is focused on exploring new features but the Information Assurance aspects will be considered in study Topic P14-0162. The NPS team (faculty/student researchers) will start with a literature review. They will build a software lab (a few computers running all the related software applications) that will replicate the xAPI developer platform (2 month). Above sub-topics 1-4 will be worked on in sequence (6 month duration). The final 2 months will be devoted to documentation and handover. Quarterly reports will also be sent to the sponsor. The foundation of this study will be applicable to Study P14-0162. This study focuses on API development, while Study P14-0162 will focus on the IA (Information Assurance) of each of the sub-topics (1-4). Thus the 2 studies are linked to each other. |
