Summary | The radar data assimilation system (RDAS) developed at the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) for the Navy’s Coupled Ocean/Atmosphere Mesoscale Prediction System (COAMPS) includes the data retrievals and assimilations. The objective of the RDAS development is to improve the COAMPS performance by providing finer resolution of the initial conditions and more frequent update of the weather system evolutions. I this project, we plan to continuously improve the COAMPS by incorporating the VelDA into the model. Besides, the coupling of the RDAS and conventional data assimilation system (CDAS) for the COAMPS will be worked on as well. |
