Back MCESG Assignment Tool
Fiscal Year | 2010 |
Division | Graduate School of Operational & Information Sciences |
Department | Operations Research |
Investigator(s) | Craparo, Emily M. |
Sponsor | Marine Corps Systems Command (Marine Corps) |
Summary |
The focus of this study is to develop a model to automate the process of Marine Security Guard (MSG) assignments, The model shall optimize the preferred post of the Marine while complying with the current constraints for post assignments. NPS researchers will: a) Develop an optimization model for the optimal assignment of MSGs, b) Implement the model computationally using commercial optimization software and, if needed, develop and implement other specialized algorithms to help solve the optimization model, c) Use hypothetical and realistic data to verify the model produces the desired results by MCESG planners, both in terms of solution quality and computational time required to attain those solutions, and d) Develop a preliminary graphical user interface (GUI), which may be refined in later phases of the project. |
