Summary Provide a response capability to the new challenges from globalization that appear beyond our current national institutions to address. The forum will allow the exploration of more partnership-oriented solutions to contemporary threats and risks in the following areas of concern: maritime, humanity, environment. economic, energy, critical infrastructure, cyber security, education. The Global Challenges Forum is an initiative of the Naval Postgraduate School Global Public Policy Academic Group, with initial planning and sponsorship from the University of Geneva, Switzerland, to bring together over 30 institutions in a global risk analysis discussion. Discussions will be held at the US Mission to the UN in Geneva, Switzerland to address a broad range of familiar and emerging topics in global security. The Forum will be co-hosted by the Centre for International Governance. The Global Challenges Forum is the direct result of recommendations from a global body of experts, who convened as the "Global Security Challenges Roundtable" in Geneva on 21-23 September, 2009. The Roundtable examined a wide array of global risks, and produced a mandate for a continuing dialogue on challenges and opportunities at the nexus of globalization and security. This meeting will be the inaugural planning meeting of the "Global Challenges Forum." The Global Challenges Forum is intended to be a public-private partnership focused on exploring new avenues of research and development to address emerging global security risks.
