Summary | This project will produce 10-15 samples suitable for transmission electron microscopy (TEM) from aluminum alloys such as AA7085 and AA2524. Specimen blanks approximately ~20mm x ~12mm x ~6mm will be provided by NAVAIR. We will use disk punching, grinding, and electropolishing to produce the foils. Low voltage scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) will be used to verify the electron transparency and overall quality of the foils. The prepared TEM foils will be sent back to Dr. Hovanec at NAVAIR for TEM analysis. |
