Summary In preparation for executing the Deep Seaweb Joint Capabilities Technology Demonstration (JCTD), this NIWO-sponsored research advances Seaweb networked communications capability by incorporating specific new mechanisms into the hydro-acoustic modem firmware. These developments include enhancements to the Seaweb physical, link, and network layers in the communications protocol stack, along with in-lab regression testing and 1 week of in-water testing in Buzzards Bay, MA. The aim is to accomplish these engineering developments in time to participate in 2 planned sea trials occurring in October (MISSION 2012) and November (NGAS 2012).
