Summary The aim of my research is to develop an autonomous robot with the capability to perform localization and mapping functions simultaneously. A sensor suite will be constructed to fulfill the previously mentioned capabilities; the suite will include range sensors and a gyroscope. A central control board will be programmed with an algorithm that will allow the robot to navigate a room, as well as to map the room and localize the robot's position. Furthermore, the algorithm will be implemented and tested in a static or semi-static lab environment.
